Library Services for Students and Visiting Students
Borrowing: Please present your PennCard in order to borrow from Penn Library collections. For most items, the undergraduate loan period is 28 days, and the graduate loan will match the expiration date on your PennCard, while videos, laptops, and some other materials, loan periods are shorter. For full details, please see the Library borrowing or contact us pages.
Access to E-Resources: All students and visiting students are eligible for electronic access to research databases and e-journals, based on your PennCommunity affiliation. If you need assistance accessing resources, please email us.
Building Access is automatically coded into the magnetic stripe on your PennCard. Some campus libraries are located in buildings that require advanced arrangement for evening/weekend access, and access to libraries may be restricted for non-PennCard holders. For more information, please see our access page.
BorrowDirect+: If you need library materials that are not available at Penn, please request them through BorrowDirect+. Depending on availability, BorrowDirect+ materials usually arrive within 3 - 5 business days.
